Higher Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Global Trends, Transformation Strategies and New Academic Practices
Adam University Co-Organises International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education
On 1 October 2026, Bishkek hosted the international scientific and practical conference “Higher Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Global Trends, Transformation Strategies and New Academic Practices.”
The conference was organised by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic and Adam University, with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Discussions focused on opportunities to use AI in teaching and research, the development of digital competencies, academic integrity and the preservation of students’ independent thinking.
Experts from Germany, Yılmaz Akkoyun and Dr Jakob Kullik, shared international perspectives. A video address by Adam University Rector Svetlana Sirmbard explored university policies on AI, associated risks and institutional responsibility.
Representatives of universities in Kyrgyzstan presented approaches to using AI in medical education, business communication and work with historical sources. Particular attention was given to professional development for teaching staff and ways to assess students’ own contributions to learning and research.
A draft resolution was prepared with recommendations on the responsible use of AI in universities and the development of inter-university cooperation. One of its provisions proposes recommending conference presentations for publication as research articles.
Comments on the draft resolution are welcome until 8 October 2026, and research articles may be submitted until 15 October 2026, by email to rectorat@adam.edu.kg
Adam University thanks the Ministry, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the experts and all participants for their cooperation and exchange of experience
