From November 2024 to February 2025, a project titled «Study of the Genotoxicity of Food Additives Using the Method of Assessing the Frequency of Dominant Lethal Mutations in Drosophila melanogaster» was carried out in collaboration with students from School No. 65. The project was conducted as part of career guidance work under the supervision of I.A. Domashov, Head of the Laboratory Support Department and Acting Associate Professor of Department of Morphological Disciplines.
As part of the project, students studied the effects of various additives, such as food dyes, palm oil, and others, on the genetic material of fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster). To achieve this, they analyzed the embryonic and post-embryonic development of individuals raised on feed mixtures containing the tested additives and examined the obtained results. During the project, students mastered the methodology of setting up experiments, observing the life cycle of fruit flies, and collecting and processing experimental data.
